How do I login to the SLAS e-Learning Center?

Log in to APPLIED with your SLAS username and password. SLAS Members (past and present) and SLAS conference/course attendees already have usernames and passwords. If you have multiple email addresses, please use the email you used when you signed up for SLAS membership or an SLAS Course. 

How do I create an account with SLAS?

Visit the SLAS membership page to learn more about SLAS membership Types and Benefits. Select one of the Join buttons to become a member.

What if I forgot my password?

Visit your SLAS profile page and select Forgot Password. Enter your username and select Submit. You will be emailed instructions to create a new password. You will then be prompted to sign into your account. 

Do I have to be an SLAS Member to take a course?

No, SLAS encourages you to become a member to take advantage of the member discount on APPLIED learning and many other events and activities. But you do not have to be an SLAS member to participate in a live or online course. However, an online account will need to be created for course access. 

Do you have a subscription option?

General Course Questions

How do I search or browse for courses?

You can search by keyword, category or education type right from the APPLIED home page. Or click on CATALOG from the APPLIED home page for more advanced search capabilities.

How do I know which courses result in getting a certificate?

Only Micro-credentials and Certificate Courses have certificates attached to them. 

Do I need any special software to take courses?

No, you only need to be connected to the Internet on your computer or mobile device. The courses will launch in any browser, although we recommend you use the most up-to-date version of that browser provided by the vendor.

How do I launch a course?

Once you’ve registered and/or purchased a course, it will show up when clicking on the “Dashboard” link in the top menu. Click on a course name to begin. Courses recently registered for may be at the end of the list. If you have a long list of courses on your Dashboard you can use the Advanced Search to filter by title.

One of the course components won't launch correctly; what do I do?

If a course component does not open or does not "play" correctly, we recommend the following steps to troubleshoot:

  • •   Note that some course components will open in a new browser window/tab, and you may have to disable your pop-up blocker to allow pop-ups temporarily.
  • •   Clear your web browser cache and restart the browser (instructions related to each browser here). 
  • •   If that doesn't help, try launching the course in a different web browser (i.e. try Firefox instead of Safari.). 
  • •   Try viewing the course on a different device, such as a laptop if you're having trouble on a mobile device or vice versa. 
  • •   If you are still having issues please contact education@asid.org for troubleshooting, with as much detail as possible regarding your issue (be sure to include the name of the course).

Do I have to complete a course in one sitting?

No. The system will track your progress in a course and you can pick up where you left off. This will happen regardless of if you are using the same computer/interface or not. You can even save your place in a video if you go back to view it within one week.

Can I download a course and watch it later offline?

No, you need to have an Internet connection to take a course. However all courses are mobile-friendly to work on any device.

How do I pass a course?

You must complete all the course components (including the evaluation/feedback survey), and answer at least 80% of all quiz questions correctly to receive your certificate of completion.

Can I retake a quiz if I don’t pass?

Yes, the quizzes are set up for multiple attempts to pass. If you do not pass on your first try, you will see a note telling you how many attempts you have left, and you will be able to go back to the quiz to try again.

Can I retake a course to refresh my knowledge?

Yes, you may review as many times as you wish. 

Where can I find slides for my course?

PDFs of slides/modules, if available, can be found in the Handouts or Materials and Resources tab of your course. Tabs appear above the course Contents.

Where can I find my certificate(s)?

Certificates already claimed can be viewed/printed/saved in Transcripts (right under My Dashboard when you are logged in to SLAS APPLIED. Each course will have its own certificate to save/print or you can select a range of dates and save/print a PDF transcript.

Does SLAS offer any free courses?

Yes. SLAS, in its eLearning Center, offers webinars at no cost for members and FYI Talks at no cost for everyone.

What is SLAS's refund or cancellation policy?

All SLAS e-Learning Center refund requests must be made in writing to education@SLAS.org within 90 days of purchase. Refunds will only be provided for course content that has not been viewed or accessed. We cannot provide refunds for courses that are in progress.


Technical Questions

What browser or device should I be using?

It is recommended that you use a PC or MAC with an updated Internet Browser. Your system should have 2.0 Ghz Processor or faster 2 GB RAM (Greater than 2 GB recommended) 

Browser must support HTML-5. Internet Explorer is NOT recommended. Do not access the site through a VPN or Remote Desktop. Ensure that pop-up blockers are disabled in your Internet browser settings.

We recommend:

Are there special technical requirements for live virtual courses or webinars?

For live virtual events, make sure you are viewing the course in an area with a strong Internet connection and others in your home/office are not doing activities that will impact the quality of your connection (eg, streaming videos). Streaming a live course feed takes more Internet bandwidth than other Internet activities so you’ll want to ensure you have a strong connection.
Audio (sound) is streamed through your computer or device speakers. Be sure your computer or device is equipped with speakers so you can hear the recording or live session. 
We also recommend learners do a browser test prior to the event start date. Do the browser test using the same device and setup you intend to use on the day of the course.

Certificate Courses

Earning a certificate is a way for you to advance in your career, or to gain the extra knowledge needed to stay competitive and up-to-date in your field. Completion of the certificate demonstrates evidence of specialized education achievement.
